WARLI ART

WHERE IS WARLI ART FROM?

¿De dónde es Warli Art?

Warli painting is is a tribal art mostly done by Adivasi from North Sahyadri Range in India.
The word Warli means a piece of land in the Varli language. This is the reason why the square, which denotes a piece of land, plays an important role in the vocabulary of Warli art.

What is Warli Art?

¿Qué es Warli Art?

The Warli style uses basic shapes such as the circle from the sun and moon, and the triangle from the hills and tops of trees. Human are represented as two inverted triangles with a circle for a head.

The paintings are made using a sticky paste of rice and water, which is used with the help of chewed bamboo sticks as paintbrushes.

The warli painting depicts day-to-day activities of people of the tribe and hence they are mostly paintings on harvest, festival, folk story, celebration, temple marriage, etc.
